Because the same treatment of text boxes as shapes, you have option for adding the same varieties of effects you add to the shapes, to the text boxes. Also you have the option to can change the shape of the text box. You can modify the text written in the text box using WordArt, by applying the 3-D effects and make changes to the text.

How to insert a Text box:

1. Select the Insert tab on the Ribbon.

2. Click the Text Box command in the Text group. A drop-down menu will appear.

3. Select Draw Text Box.

4. Click and drag on the document to create the text box.

5. You need to start with typing for writing the text in the text box.

  • Also there is an option to see examples by selecting one of the built-in text boxes with defined colors, fonts, positions and font sizes. By choosing this option, there is no need for clicking and dragging to draw a text box, it appears automatically.

How to move a Text Box? :

1. Click on the text box.

2. Drag the mouse over one of the edges of the text box. The mouse pointer becomes a cross with arrows on each end.

3. Click and drag the text box to the desired location on the page.

How to resize a Text Box? :

1. Select the text box.

2. Click and drag one of the sizing handles on the corners or sides of the text box until it is the desired size.

How to change the Text Box Shape? :

1. Select the text box. A new Format tab appears with Drawing Tools.

2. Go to the Format tab.

3. Click the Edit Shape command

4. Click Change Shape to display a drop-down list.

5. Select the desired shape from the list.

How to choose a Shape Style? :

If you choose a Shape Style, you will have the option to add a preset fill and outline color, ans in certain situations, to add some of the offered options such as shadow, reflection, glow, soft edges, bevel and 3-D rotations.There is no need for picking a style for the text box and at the same time it save your time, and help you to experiment with diverse looks.

1. Select the text box. The Format tab appears.

2. Select the Format tab.

3. Click the More drop-down arrow in the Shape Styles group to display more style options.

4. Drag the mouse over the styles to see a live preview.

How to change Shape Fill? :

1. Select the text box. The Format tab appears;

2. Click the Format tab;

3. Click on the Shape Fill command to display a drop-down menu;

4. From the menu that appears, you can choose a color, click on the No Fill option, or click on the More Fill Colors, for using a color not listed in the primary list.

How to change the Shape Outline? :

1. First, select the text box. The Format tab appears.

2. Click on the Shape Outline command to display a drop-down list.

3. You can select a color from the list, choose No Outline, or select More Outline Colors to use a color that’s not on the list.

4. From the menu that appears, you have the option to change the outline color, weight (thickness), and the option for dashed line.

How to change Shadow Effects? :

1. Select the text box. The Format tab appears.

2. Select the Format tab.

3. Click the Shape Effects command.

4. Click Shadow.

5. Move your mouse over the menu options to see a live preview in your document.
