Microsoft Word 2010

In this article you will be able to learn how to use the Paste Special function in Microsoft Word 2010. The Paste Special function is similar to Paste, but it has a few more options. It is very useful to use because sometimes when you want to copy some text from a website and paste it back to your Word document, it may not be the same format as the text in your document. So in order to copy a text that will be the same format as your Word document you have to do the following steps.

1. Select the text from the website from which you want to copy and then right click the mouse and select Copy.

2. Click the Home tab in the navigation menu and then click the downward arrow below the Paste button.

Note: Notice that there are several options listed here:

  • Keep Source Formatting – so the source in this case is a website called treehugger.com
  • Merge Formatting - is what we want in this situation
  • Keep Text Only -is doing almost the same thing as Merge Formatting

Also if you hover with your mouse pointer over any of these options it would show what it does in real time on your text.

3.  Click on any of these options and the paste will be finished.

Note: If you click on the Paste Special button located below the three options, a dialog box will appear where you can select to Paste as a different format.
