What is WordArt? – Adding effects to the text inside the text box is known as WordArt.

The varieties of effects that you add to the text using WordArt, are the same with the varieties of effects that we add to shapes or text boxes (shadow, reflection, bevel. glow, 3-D rotation). But, also you have the possibility for transformation of the text, and giving the text a wavy, slanted, or inflated look.

This tutorial will show:

  • How to apply a Style to text? ;
  • How to convert regular text into WordArt? ;
  • How to add or modify text effects? ;
  • How to apply a Style to text? :

By adding a Style to the text, the text is applied with more than a few effects at one time. Then, you have the option to change the look of the text by adjusting and changing the effects.

1. First, select the text box, or select some text inside of the text box. The Format tab will appear;

2. Click the Format tab;

3. Click on the drop-down arrow command in the WordArt Styles group, to see different visual styles.  A drop-down menu will appear.

4. Select and click on the desired style.

After adding a Style to the text, you can still change or adjust the font or font color by clicking on Home tab.

  • How to convert regular text into WordArt:

The most important thing you should know about using the WordArt is that, only the text written in the Text Box can be modified with WordArt. Another option for formatting the text using WordArt is by using a shortcut that lets you to transform text into WordArt even it is not written in a text box.

1. First, select the text you wish to convert.

2. Click the Insert tab.

3. You need to click on WordArt button. Then, a menu will Quick Styles will appeared.

4. Click on the desired Quick Style.

Word will automatically create a text box for your text and apply the style to the text.

  • How to add or modify text effects? :

1. Select the text box, or select some text inside of the text box. The Format tab will appear.

2.Click on the Format tab.

3. Click on the Text Effects command in the WordArt Styles group. A drop-down menu will appear showing the different effect categories.

4. Drag the mouse over different effects categories, to see how the text will look like.

5. Click on the desired effect. The effect will be applied to your text. If you want, you can combine several different effects.
